Call To ACTion!
Reminder: All health action project videos are due no later than March 1st 2013, 11:59 pm.
Ready! Set! ACTion! (RSA!) is an amazing new project aimed at cultivating the innovation and creativity of youth to impact health. Driven by youth leaders as a project of The Civic Canopy, and powered by Kaiser Permanente, this project challenges youth councils and leadership groups across the state to improve the health of their community with an ACTion-project. Youth groups will have one year to create an ACTion-project that improves health in their community. Documenting the process will be one of the ways groups showcase their work. This site will be a place for conversations between groups and helpful resources. The organizing youth group, Kaiser Permanente and The Civic Canopy know that youth have the power to make change happen. So what are you waiting for? Get up! Do something! Ready! Set! ACTion!
What Can Our Group Get For Our Work?
Groups will submit their completed ACTion-project in the spring of 2013. The projects will be evaluated based on the project judging and submission criteria by community members, health professionals, and youth. Six top projects will be chosen. There will be four $5000 donations, and two $2500 donations given to the top ACTion-projects at the Ready! Set! ACTion! event in the spring of 2013. All participating groups will be invited to attend the event to showcase their work and celebrate the power of youth leadership!

What Does “Health” Mean?
Health can be many things and effect many people. Our general definition of health is being well and thriving physically and emotionally. Your ACTion-project should help members of your community do this. There are many groups of people in your community: teens, the elderly and those with low incomes are just some that your ACTion-project might focus on. Here are just a few of the health topics youth groups in Colorado are working on.
- Healthy Eating
- Active Living
- Emotional Health
- Suicide Prevention
- Bullying
- Healthy Relationships
- Environmental Issues
- Walkable neighborhoods
- Safety
- Sexual Health
